An enthusiastic crowd of animal rights activists and curious filmgoers gathered at The Majestic Crest Theatre in Los Angeles for an Animal Rescue Media and Education (ARME) benefit and to view the premiere of the movie Skin Trade, written-directed by animal rights attorney and award-winning filmmaker Shannon Keith.
Mother’s Day is one of the few days out of the year reserved for appreciating the very person who is responsible for our earthly existence. She made you, labored through having you, cared for you, and has mostly likely grown into one of the most important people in your life. Mothers are very special. So, if you plan on purchasing a gift to show her just how special she is and how much you appreciate her, consider giving back to the mother of us all, Mother Earth, while you’re at it. You’ll be contributing to a positive shift in consumer ethics and making two mothers happy!

Beauty products are designed to do just what the title suggests– to make us beautiful. Or at least feeling that way. But, often times the effects the ingredients have on the planet are so damaging, that it’s ironic we consider them safe enough for something as delicate as our skin. Thousands of synthetic chemicals are added to products like face cream, lotion, shave gel and shampoo, yet few of them are tested for safety. They are absorbed in into our bodies, and then washed down the drain to be recycled into drinking water.
